Familiar faces and hot new flavours at Holker Chilli Fest
Attending the event for the third year are local Chilli specialists, The
Chilli Pepper Company of Cark-in-Cartmel, located less than a mile from Holker
Hall itself.
Gerald Fowler, founder of
the company, will be a familiar face to chilli fans as he tours many of the UK’s
chilli festivals with his fiery goods. He has a particular fondness for Holker
however, “not just because it’s on the doorstep, but because of its unique
fiesta-style atmosphere” says Mr Fowler.
He hopes to launch some of his newest products at the event, including
the aptly-named ‘Pocket Rocket’, a double vial of the world’s hottest chilli
powders in a one-of-a-kind engraved tube, so chilli fans can add spice to their
food wherever they go! Foodies will also
love the Chilli Pepper ‘Saltmarsh’ sauce, with its tomato base, minty notes and
interesting heat, designed especially to compliment the local Saltmarsh Lamb produced
on the Holker Estate.
Since it was created in 1999 by the Fowlers, the Chilli Pepper Company
has become a leading authority on all things chilli, creating bespoke sauces
for restaurants around the country and even working alongside Heston Blumenthal’s
research team to look at the effects of chilli on the human brain.

put the 10 &11th of September into your diary and salsa on down
to Holker Chilli Fest! If you can’t wait until then, the Holker Food Hall is
running a pre-event promotion on a selection of chilli dipping sauces produced
by The Chilli Pepper Company.
