"There was simply no better feeling than making our way to Old Park Wood on a Friday evening, knowing our children, Joanne & I could switch off & relax in your wonderful surroundings. The grounds are so spacious, neighbouring vans being a generous distance away. To have the woodland & estuary walks on our doorstep together with quiet cycle tracks & walks locally makes for a wonderful outdoor playground. "

Find out about our Super September
Tags: Find out about our Super September
On March 1st we opened our gates to Old Park Wood and Longlands. Almost since Day One the weather has been glorious, except a minor blip in early August. September turned out to be the Indian summer we are often promised but seldom see; not this year though, it’s been a glorious month! The parks have been kept looking their very best all summer and we are only now seeing the signs of autumn - orange hues creeping through the woodlands and sloe berries lining the hedgerows of the parks. (Note to self: next year I must remember to pick a bag full of them and add to a bottle of Gin. It makes the absolute best winter tipple!)

Here in the office however, there are NO signs of things slowing down. During the last quarter we have seen a notable increase in activity across both parks with new residents arriving and existing customers upgrading their caravans. Perhaps we can attribute some of this recent flurry to our successful summer open day events?

Both days had a real feel good factor about them and we received fantastic feedback from all who attended. The display caravans that were presented at the park entrance were snapped up and have now become holiday homes for proud new owners. The children enjoyed playing on the bouncy castles and we all enjoyed the tasty BBQ that was laid on. Lynn, a long standing member of staff at Holker (whom many of the residents at Old Park Wood will know very well) baked furiously in the run-up to the events, creating a mouth-watering cake display to raise funds for two very special local charities. St Mary’s Hospice and the Northwest Air Ambulance are fantastic charities who provide very important services to the local communities here in South Cumbria. Thanks to the generous donations of our visitors, we managed to raise a staggering £680.00! The money has been divided between the charities and both organisations will be presented with their cheques this Thursday.

We hope our residents plan to enjoy some relaxation time at Old Park Wood and Longlands over the coming weeks, and don’t forget, there is still plenty to see and do in autumn. Information about the Holker Bonfire Night and other events can be found on the ‘Upcoming Events’ page of the websites.
