"It was 1986 that we bought our first caravan on Old Park Wood. We have always enjoyed staying there and appreciated the help from all the staff over the last 24 years."

Autumn Activities around the Parks
Tags: -
As the 2015 season draws to a close, and winter starts to take its grip on our parks, the thoughts of both our staff and residents turn to shutdown preparations and Christmas. Yet, there’s still a definite ‘buzz’ as well as a chill in the air.

Excitement has been building for this weekend’s ‘Bonfire Night / End of Season Celebration’ at Old Park Wood, with plenty of entries flooding in for the ever popular Triathlon, and our Photography competition, which will be judged by the keen eye of Lady Cavendish, a talented photographer herself! This morning we have taken delivery of the most wonderful raffle prizes for our Bonfire Raffle (in aid of the Northwest Air Ambulance and St Marys Hospice), in the form of a Gingerbread House made by Michelle Crompton, one of our OPW residents, and a Bonfire Cake made by Lynn Hornby, our lovely bakery supplier. So, with the bonfire built and the burgers ordered, we just need to cross our fingers for fine weather!

It’s also this time of year that our brand new 2016 caravans begin to arrive on the parks. We’ve selected some stunning models from leading UK caravan manufacturer ABI, including the Summer Breeze, the Elan, the innovative Harewood and the sumptuous Ambleside. Their range of comfortable and stylish homes offers something to suit all tastes and budgets. Over the coming weeks they will be sited in preparation for the start of the new season in March, and for the first time early next spring, we will be hosting a preview event to launch these new models – keep an eye out on our websites for further information on this forthcoming event!

Despite talk of the winter shutdown, there is still time left to enjoy your holiday home and make the most of the beautiful autumnal scenery around the parks.  For Old Park Wood residents – make sure you set aside a couple of hours of the final weekend of the season to enjoy the delights of the Ulverston Dickensian Festival held on 28th and 29th November.
